Johnny Jones joined Hickman, Goza & Spragins in 2024 after a long and storied career practicing in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the founding member of the law firm Jones, Funderberg, Sessums, Peterson & Lee. He has focused his practice primarily on representing claimants in workers’ compensation cases since 1987, but is very experienced in civil litigation, including bad faith litigation, over his forty year career. Immediately following law school, Johnny was a law clerk for United States District Judge Tom S. Lee of the Southern District of Mississippi. Johnny authored Mississippi Writers Talking, Vol. I & II (University Press of Mississippi, 1982 and 1983) which consists of interviews with many famous Mississippi authors, and was a contributor to The Lines Were Drawn, (University Press of Mississippi, 2016), a book about integration of public schools in Jackson, Mississippi. He has also authored over 50 papers on all aspects of workers’ compensation practice, bad faith, and other remedies for injured workers. He was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for workers’ compensation in 1995.
